Who We Are?

Murphy Mentoring Group, Inc. (MMG) is a not-for profit 501 c3 Corporation. It is the brainchild of husband-and-wife team, Dedrick and Jennifer Murphy founded October 2009. Although MMG was officially established in 2009 the founders have been providing quality leadership and mentorship for over 20 years.  Since inception, MMG has served over 1500 children, youth, and families in Central and parts of Northern Indiana. We provide services to youth ages 6-18 that need guidance and support, specializing in assisting youth with basic living skills, social skills, responsibility, coping skills, anger management, goal setting, and overall character development. We not only work with the youth but the family. We provide family support and training/educational programming for parents and caregivers as well. We pride ourselves in providing highly trained mentors and group facilitators with integrity. Most of the youth and families served notice an increased capacity to manage difficulties and navigate day to day living.
Mission
To impact the lives of children, youth, and families by influencing them to grow, develop, and reach their greatest potential through educational services and compassionate mentorship.
Vision

The Respite House of Marion County

The Respite House of Marion County will serve the families of youth ages 6-13 years old diagnosed with a severe emotional disorder/disability (SED). At the same time, their parent or caregivers will have the opportunity to rest and refuel. The importance of creating a place where a parent/caregiver feels comfortable leaving their child/youth while they get to focus on self-care is a priority for us. When a caregiver is overwhelmed or exhausted, it can compromise their judgment and put children in danger of neglect, abuse or worse. With our mental health system experiencing unprecedented changes from the burden of our current world climate, parents/caregivers don’t have the necessary support needed to manage difficulties, and we want to reduce that burden. The Respite House of Marion County will fill a void for that additional support while serving as a temporary home away from home for the youth to receive care from highly skilled professionals and gain useful life and social skills to assist them in their everyday lives. We hope to make an impact that will make life easier on the parent/caregiver once the child returns home. TRH-Marion County will be open six days per week, 24 hours per day, to serve this specific population of youth and families. By partnering with us, you are helping us build a stronger community and support system for the families.

We are currently raising funds for The Respite House of Marion County. Become a community partner as one time donor or as a monthly partner.
